I will probably go for a second-hand bike. I would like to go American (HD, or Indian), but they cost an arm and a leg, and I really do not have that kind of money to lay on a bike. So I might go to the old Japanese ladies...
I am thinking of a cruiser. If not, an old all-terrain bike, like the V-strom I still have in Italy.
Do you have any suggestions?

Some type of Sport Tourer may be what you are looking for. But get what you like and you can afford!

Torch, indeed, that may be the best option in the end.
Charlie, thank you!
Hi Demonio,
It is sad that you had a bad expreience with the mana and sold it. I still ahve mine and and very happy with it. For sure it is vibrating but this is a problem if you ride long ways or use the sport mode. For me it is perfect bike for a 70km daily trip back and forth to the office. There is no perfect bike, but the Aprilia gave me what I expected for: design , comfortable gearbox, huge but not uggly baggage capacity, value for money.
Hope you will enjoy your new stay in the US (I stayed one night recently in Chicago but It was freezing) and will find adequate bike to run;
All the best.
Jerome (the one who put this large top case on a grey mana)
Hi Jerome, I remember you! Happy to hear that the Mana is working well for you.
I have now been without a bike for an entire year...
Hi
I ride primarliy in the UK where I live but have ridden all over Europe and on a few occasions hired bikes in the US. Normally I would say Harleys aren't for me but I hired a V Rod in the US which was more interesting. I've also hired BMW's - the GS1200 was fun. How about a Triumph Tiger? I lived in the US, I'd be tempted to try that.
Good luck (Its fun thinking about getting a new bike - I have three and one will be P/X 'd this year. Don't know which one and for what but its fun thinking about it. Ha ha
