Mana with Shad SH50 top case

JB, a commentator of Mototourism, sent me some very good photos of his grey Mana (great colour, by the way) with a Shad SH50 top case. You can see them below.

I must admit the bike looks a lot better that I thought it would: it must also be the fact that the Shad is the same colour as the bike. It actually looks very neat.

JB kindly promised to send me a few words on the Mana's behaviour with this top case. I am really curious to hear how it handles, as this case is really big, and I am sure that the different weight distrubution will affect the bike. Depending on what he says, I will decide myself on whether to buy the Givi V-46 or not. I would like to avoid it, but I think it will be necessary during the winter, when I will have to store the winter gear...

Good information!!^^, I'd like to wait and see your decision before I would decide to install the rear bag. I used to wear Bobble Bee brand backpack("techno" backpack people saying) myself when riding my Mana, but found that it's not comfortable or suitable for naked bike. The rear protruding end of backpack was reached to backseat of Mana, causing friction. The Bobble Bee is for "Replica" bikes, I guess^^. So I sold it and bought new plain hard covered backpack last week^^.

hi lewis, for the moment I just use the spdier net to fix a backpack to the passenger seat...

but the shad does look nice. Problem is, all my gear is Givi brand, so I would like to install the Givi V46...but I can't find any photos...

Hi Demononio,

I am still posting as anonymous as I do not have a Google Id. Anyway.

If you want to use your Givi items you can buy a Kappa rack for the mana as it is the same as the one from Givi.

Please check and select aprilia mana http://www.kappamoto.com/tabid/58/Default.aspx

Then go to the following link and you'll find where to buy.
http://www.rad.eu/fr/c/p/20337-givi-kappa-monorack-serie-fz-kz-porteur-top-case-732fz.htm

Rad is a good shop and I recently visited the Nivelles one.

Hope this will help solving the problem.

Best regards.

Jerome.

Thank you Jerome, especially for the shop...I see they are in Bruges and in another small town near Brussels. I will pay a visit as soon as I can...

Hi all,

Would it be possible to mount the Givi v46 (that I already have) on the original Aprilia rack, as JB did with the Shad-50?

What do you think about the original Aprilia backpack?

Thanks
Guido

Hi Guido, Givi sent me an email with the list of things to buy for installing the V46. I will post about it asap.

I have never seen the aprilia backpack...can't help you with that. I don't like backpacks when I ride. I'd rather use the spider net to fix the bag on the passenger seat...

I agree with you, I do not like backpack too. But...when you have your "boss" sitting on the passenger seat, then this is not the place for placing the spider anymore!

I know the feeling...and my boss also complains about the mana, saying she feels much better on the Strom...she wants me to buy the topcase so that she can have a backrest...

I guess I will have to do what I am told. Or else, ride my bike on my own. Which is really NOT bad at all...

Hi-
I just purchased a Mana in NYC and am trying to get the Shad SH 50 case. Impossible! I am trying to order from overseas. Any suggestions as I want the case with silver top, mounting hardware and back rest.

Also, any suggestions on what type of mounting to get since I will want the side cases too?

Thanks everyone! My Mana is AWESOME.

hello Chad,

I will send an email to JB, the guy who sent me the photos and the comments on the Shad, to ask him this question...and let you know!

Thanks! And another question for you or the group--I need to change out the grips. They are too small for my hands to fit comfortably for long distances. Any suggestions?

is that a GIVI box at the tail end?
